UF278 Chrome and inlaid bracelet - Bauhaus/modernist design
Art as jewelry or jewelry as art?
This is a sublime example of Bauhaus/modernist design. The bracelet is most likely from the 1920s. The maker's mark is V|K in a circle. The clasp is unique as it wraps around the front and becomes part of the overall design. The semicircle has a wooden base and is inlaid with onyx, wood and mother of pearl. Thin aluminium strips form the grid pattern. It is somewhat oval shaped - 2.40" across. You don't have to wear it to love it.
