I Saw A Child
I saw a child who couldn't walk,
sit on a horse, laugh and talk.
Then ride it through a field of daisies
and yet he could not walk unaided.
I saw a child, no legs below,
sit on a horse, and make it go
through woods of green
and places he had never been
to sit and stare,
except from a chair.
I saw a child who could only crawl
mount a horse and sit up tall.
Put it through degrees of paces
and laugh at the wonder in our faces.
I saw a child born into strife,
Take up and holdthe reins of life
and that same child was heard to say,
Thank God for showing me the way...

Soaring Spirit Therapeutic Equestrian Center is a non-profit program dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and adults with physical, emotional, learning and/or developmental challenges. Soaring Spirit is unique and very effective in its use of horses and other animals as tools for therapy.

In their excitement of learning to ride, physically challenged students forget they're doing strenuous exercise. For students with impaired mobility, riding gently and rhythmically moves their bodies in a manner similar to a human walking gait. Riders experience increased balance, muscle control and strength.

All students are motivated to socalize more effectively. Through their relationship with the horse, students develop a more loving connection with themselves and others, and find new hope to persue their dreams.

Therapeutic riding is recognized by the American Physical Therapists Association and the American Occupational Therapists Association. We serve the needs of many different challenges, including:
